Tasmanian Oak Butcher Block
Tasmanian Oak Butcher Block
LARGE ROUND (46CM DIAMETER, 6CM DEPTH)
Our large round block is the ultimate statement piece for your kitchen. Not only does it look great, but it provides a great sized surface for you to utilise during your meal preparation. Now with a drip groove, these make for a great gift this festive season.
Butcher blocks have been used by butchers for centuries. The blocks utilise the end grain of a log as a cutting surface. Not only are these surfaces a lot harder than an edge or a face grain block, but they are also easier on the knives used. Our blocks are constructed from Tasmanian Oak, a native Australian hardwood. Each block is different to the next as the colour of the timber varies from quite blonde through to a light brown. When used and maintained correctly, your Charlie Campbell butcher block will continue to serve you in your kitchen for years and years to come.
Follow these simple steps to ensure that your butcher block stays in tip-top shape for years to come.
CLEANING: After each use, wipe your block down with a wet cloth and some warm, soapy water. Make sure to dry thoroughly straight away.
OILING: Each month or so, or when the block begins to look a little dry, it is time for a coat of oil. Apply a liberal amount of food grade mineral oil with a disposable cloth. Let it soak in for a couple of hours and then wipe off any excess oil. Re-apply if there are any obvious dry spots. For an extra layer of protection apply an oil-wax finish over the top in the same manner as the mineral oil.
